TECNALIA
FUNDACION TECNALIA RESEARCH & INNOVATION (www.tecnalia.com) is a private, independent, nonprofit applied research centre of international excellence. Legally a Foundation, TECNALIA is the leading private and independent research and technology organization in Spain and one of the largest in Europe, employing 1,300 people (around 150 PhDs) and with an income of more than 100 Million € in 2016.
TECNALIA is committed to generate major impacts in economic terms, by means of innovation and technological development, addressed by 7 business divisions, covering the economic sectors of Energy, Industry, Transportation, Construction, Health and ICT. TECNALIA has been granted over 250 patents and promoted more than 30 spinoff companies.
TECNALIA is a key agent in the ERA European Research Area and participates actively in the governing bodies of several European Technology Platforms, such as the European Factories of the Future Research Association (EFFRA). TECNALIA participated as partner in 377 FP7 projects, coordinating 81 of them. TECNALIA is a member of EARPA, EARTO, EUROTECH and is also part of the European Technology Platform for Advanced Engineering Materials and Technologies (EUMAT).
The Automotive Area of TECNALIA includes a technological line devoted to Structural Parts Design & Manufacturing, where the following processes are developed:
- Advanced manufacturing of high added value vehicle multimaterial assemblies.
- Development of manufacturing processes for automotive composite components.
This technological line of TECNALIA is fully aligned with the objectives of CircularTP proposal, offering TECNALIA’s capabilities for the development of new materials and for validating its use for the manufacture of lightweight structural components at an affordable price for the consumers of the Automotive Sector.
Equipment that will be used in the project:
- Hybrid laseradhesive joining cell.
- High power diode and CO2 lasers.
- Data acquisition devices and sensors including, pyrometers, thermocouples, infrared camera, laser scanner, acoustic emission, etc.
- FEM Software for forming process development
- Material characterization equipment for mechanical tests and metallographic analysis.
- Insitu polymerization facilities
- Automated cold and hot stamping cell. 800ton
- Hydraulic press for metal and composite forming
- KUKA Kr 150 Robot.
